KENT DISTRICT LIBRARY— “REDISCOVER GRAND RAPIDS DOWNTOWN” BUILDINGS

January through August 2022—East Grand Rapids Branch, Kentwood Branch, and Amy Van Andel Library.

In 2022, the Kent District Library invited library visitors to rediscover Grand Rapids vibrant and eclectic downtown streetscape with the “REDISCOVER” exhibit. KDL designers created these large panels featuring photos and a brief history of selected downtown buildings. Panel photos and text written by VanderPloeg were based on her book Grand Rapids Downtown Buildings.

Featured 12 panels of homes and histories designed by Grand Rapids Public Library based on VanderPloeg’s book Ottawa Hills: Early Owners, Architects & Builders. The display celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the beautiful and historic Ottawa Hills Neighborhood.
